DOMUS & HORTUS ARTIS 2026 Juvenilia
Where:Dom Albrechtovcov
The concert entitled Juvenilia presents early chamber opuses by prominent representatives of national schools – French, Czech, and Slovak. All three composers demonstrate in these works the validity of their artistic ambitions during or shortly after completing their studies. Piano Quartet in A minor, op. 1 by Josef Suk is an early chamber work from 1891, composed during the composer's studies under Antonín Dvořák; Piano Quartet op. 6 by Eugen Suchoň from 1932–1933 is his graduation piece from the Prague Master School, where he studied under Vítězslav Novák; and Fauré's Piano Quartet in C minor op. 15, though not a student work, nonetheless represents an entry into the world of larger chamber works with piano (beyond this he later composed another piano quartet, two piano quintets, and a piano trio).
