Dušan Martinček – Chamber Music for Guitar
Where:Dom Albrechtovcov
We warmly invite you to the second (Un)known Music concert of this year by o.z. Albrechtina, dedicated to the guitar works of Dušan Martinček on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth.
Dušan Martinček (1936 – 2006) belonged to the generation of composers whose musical education was shaped by personalities such as Alexander Albrecht, Ján Zimmer, Ján Cikker, and Rudolf Macudzínski. Moreover, as he himself stated, "in the broad field of art, he was in fact a pupil of Ján Albrecht." Although Martinček's output is dominated above all by piano, chamber, and orchestral music, through his close contact with Jozef Zsapka the guitar was also among his favourite instruments. The composer took up the guitar himself, and from 1983 onwards dedicated a number of works and cycles to it. Among them we find solo compositions and pieces for flute and guitar.

PROGRAMME
The chamber concert marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of Dušan Martinček will feature a selection from his works for solo guitar and his complete output for flute and guitar. Both represent the diversity of Martinček's musical language, which — alongside a strong connection to tradition — absorbed several modern compositional currents. It was precisely their balance that he sought in order to create his own free space for composition.
