Joseph Haydn – piano sonatas – (Un)known Music 4/26

We cordially invite you to the fourth concert of (Un)known Music in 2026, held on the occasion of a significant milestone birthday of pianist Daniela Varínska. The concert will feature her performances of piano sonatas by the Austrian composer born in nearby Rohrau, Joseph Haydn (1732 – 1809).

Daniela Varínska (*1946) pursues both solo and chamber performance. She gives concerts and appears regularly at leading music festivals in Europe, Canada, the USA, and Asia. She has collaborated with domestic and international ensembles under the batons of Slovak, Czech, and foreign conductors (Ondrej Lenárd, Ľudovít Rajter, Bystrík Režucha, Ladislav Slovák; Zdeněk Košler; James Judd, Jerzy Katlewicz, Andrew Mogrelia, Anton Nanut, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Alexander Rahbari, Jac van Steen, and others). In the field of chamber music her partners include distinguished Slovak and international artists. She has performed with several chamber ensembles: Cappella Istropolitana, Musica aeterna, Slovak Chamber Soloists, Moyzes Quartet, Flauto dolce, Maria Theresia Ensemble, and Musa antiqua.

Alongside the piano she is a respected harpsichordist and fortepianist, and in these capacities she is invited as a soloist to festivals abroad as well (e.g. Bach Festival Stuttgart (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Prague Spring, Haydn Festival Dolní Lukavice). Daniela Varínska records for Slovak Radio and foreign radio stations, and collaborates with Slovak Television (e.g. the film F. Chopin: Sonata in B flat minor op. 35).
