Chamber Works for Violin and Guitar
Where:Dom Albrechtovcov
We warmly invite you to a chamber concert in which Pavol Šimai's cycle Impressions for solo guitar offers a lyrical journey into the sonic world of the instrument. The performers will give the world premiere of Hommage à Hviezdoslav for violin and guitar by Damián Štefan, inspired by the poetry of the great Slovak poet. In Astor Piazzolla's History of the Tango, the fascinating transformations of tango unfold — from its rough beginnings in Buenos Aires through café and nightclub music to the tango of today. Benjamin Britten's Nocturnal after John Dowland is among the masterpieces of 20th-century guitar literature. Manuel de Falla's Suite populaire Espagnole will bring the colours of Spanish folklore and the fiery spirit of flamenco. The concert will also feature Piazzolla's iconic pieces Oblivion and Libertango.
